Sport for LIFE (SFL) is a 12 week physical activity and health programme designed for 8-9 year old children in areas of greatest disadvantage in Northern Ireland. It was designed by academics in the Ulster Sports Academy in partnership with Education and Library Board professionals. The goals of the programme were to:
1. increase knowledge and awareness of the benefits of participation in sport, physical activity and healthy eating in schoolchildren aged 8-9 years from the most socio-economically disadvantaged areas of Northern Ireland
Engaging and inspiring young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) has long been identified as an area of key strategic importance economically, developmentally and socially . Studies such as the Royal Society’s 2005 “Taking a Leading Role” identify role models and meeting professional scientists as key factors in career and study choices, while organizations such as STEMNET have been formed to “increase young people’s choices and chances through STEM.”
The ambitious digital outreach project supporting the Treasures of the Bodleian exhibition (2011) resulted in a responsively designed website, interpretative QR codes and a mobile app focusing on one question: What is a ‘treasure’?
Defining a ‘treasure’ was a central theme for the physical exhibition in preparation for a permanent treasures gallery opening in 2015.
The digital project turned this central theme into the following objectives:
The International Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) is primarily a postgraduate facility offering Masters and PhD degrees within the British academic framework in partnership with University of Wales. It also offers Magister degrees validated by the Czech educational authorities. IBTS holds an Erasmus charter and is a recognised educational institution within the Czech further educational system.
In 2009 we developed a pilot project funded by the University of Girona (Spain), combining Educational Innovation and Development Cooperation, which was held at Shanti Bhavan, a rural school in South India.
Cambridge recently set out an aspiration to improve the means by which it communicates with prospective applicants in the UK. This has resulted in a series of projects under the ‘Be Cambridge’ title aimed at prospective undergraduate applicants in Year 12 or equivalent (i.e. 16-17 year olds) from under-represented groups.
The project began with a scoping study to look at use of new media by our target audience. This included a detailed analysis of social media use, as well as focus groups across the country. The main findings were:
Scientific Output Portal (PPC) is a software developed by SIGMA Gestión universitaria AIE (SIGMAAIE) (1) in collaboration with University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) , to show on an easy and intuitive way, all the scientific output of an institution, grouped by researcher, department, research center and/or research figure (research groups, units,…), accessible from the UPF institutional web site and with free access to the scientific community and society.
The Sex and History project, which is part of Sexual Knowledge, Sexual History at the University of Exeter’s Centre for Medical History, draws upon the world-leading research of Dr Rebecca Langlands and Professor Kate Fisher to meet the need for effective sex and relationship education. It empowers young people to discuss pressing contemporary issues in a supportive environment. At its heart is a methodology that uses historical objects from past cultures such as ancient Rome or China as a springboard for discussion, debate and creative responses.
The Centre for Creative Collaboration "C4CC" brings together leading researchers from London’s universities, creative industry practitioners and freelancers, SMEs and students, and delivers a proven neutral environment based on the principles of open innovation. New collaborative projects are conceived, developed, delivered and disseminated.
